re: This week's news May 14th

There's a little know fact that Peace Officer's Memorial Day is May 15th.  Attached is the WEB site outlining the establishment and the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C.

think the stop sign really helps in slowing people down. Why not put another at the clubhouse, we could put a crosswalk at each stop sign, we could also put one at an intersection midway down after the roundabout, then we would not be taking our lives in our hands when we cross the street. When I walk I don't cross the street anymore, because some cars do not slow down. I am literally afraid that if I ever tripped and fell, the cars would not be able to stop in time. I think most cars would slow down, but my experiences have not been good examples of that. I worry about children crossing, why wait until we have a devastating accident before we act. Another benefit would be that a police cruiser or private citizen could take down the license numbers of offenders. It's just a thought, but something definitely has to be done about speeders (and they are not just teenagers as I'm sure most of us know).
It's getting dangerous out there.

As far as I know, most of the houses in Lexington Oaks were built with at least a two car garage.  To avoid vandalism and break ins of residents' cars, it would be advisable to park them in the garage.  I know that most people use their garages for storage, however, is your car and the belongings in the car worth more than what you are storing in your garage(s)???  The Community Garage Sales are the perfect opportunity to rid yourself of the "stuff" that accumulates over the years.  Once you clear the "stuff" you can fit at least one car in there.

Also, please remember that if you leave your car or cars in the driveway, remove your garage opener as it could be easy access to someone getting into the house itself.

The only answers to the speeding issue on Lexington Oaks Speedway are speed humps and lowering the speed limit to 30.  I have not seen an officer in here for over a year to monitor traffic, so this is not an answer.

It is not only younger drivers that speed, it is the adult residents.  It is uncontrollable unless there is some preventive action.

In regards to emergency vehicles, it does not take a significant amount of more time to go through speed humps.  This is not a factor when looking at reasons to not have speed humps.  In addition, damage to cars from speed humps only happens when the car is speeding.

Safety of our community residents and children should be a priority. I think our community leaders need to strongly consider speed humps and lowering the speed limit.

I think L.O for is a turn off to me and I am sick of living in this crazy place...These people need to get a life.
.
Ride your bike where ever you please if people are too rude to step aside when you say "left" well then be it, run them over!...I would never ride on the street, Its too dangerous not to mention rude of people to ask!  Riding on the sidewalk is impossible as well with 5 cars parked in a 4 car parking spot! That's the real issue! I can see the cute little girl next door getting run over because L.O wants her to ride on the street. WIERD! I am waiting for L.O to make riding bikes a $40 fine....

The stop signs in front are a pain and annoy me. I don't enjoy almost getting slammed by a bunch of low income red necks in the back of a 4 x 4 who don't know how to use a 4 way stop.

The restaurant is amazing with great prices, food and ambiance. With the unsociable bunch we have you may as well turn it into a morgue. Saddlebrook is even more social then L.O.

The Police are paid by us to give us tickets. Lets guess did they call George Bush for that idea?

The Tattle tale mentality gets on my last nerves. These OCD personality types need med's! Oh yes every block including Quadrangle has one and Darren we all know its you sweetie pie!

The people at the pool act like they pay my mortgage and now this stupid stuff.....Who in there right mind would ever even consider speed bumps.....REDICULOUSE!!!! Speed bumps stink for many reasons and we wonder why so many homes are up for sale!!!! I have seen people ignore the fact that golf carts get the right of way. I don't think the residents realize how it works...So send out a reminder in the L.O News letter.

I thought this was going to be a fun place to live. I had no idea we would get the worst reputation in Wesley Chapel for the most annoying people around town. Real Estate agents have confirmed that for me. I dont blame them. I am embarrassed to admit I live here.

I am kicking myself for not buying 5 acres away from all this non sense and crazy people. We are the middle class not Royalty. I think its important to have rules and regulations but these topics are nit picky and just plain odd.

I am so over it!

Tell the busy bodies to fix the bricks and stick to the real issues. They are killing the suspension on my car!

As far as speed bumps, I concur with the others that it is not the solution rather it prevents emergency vehicles to go to the aid of one in need where time is crucial for their very survival.
Speaking of speeding. The school buses on average travel at 45+ mph. I wonder if anyone else has noticed. It is much more difficult to maneuver a bus traveling through LO or anywhere else at those speeds with our winding roads.
How many accidents have occured excluding those drivers who probably were drunk and thought  that the rotary didn't exist?
We all need to stop and pause for a moment. Then think of those things which are truely important in our community and what community really means!

Thanks for listening,

George

Speed Bumps:  I do understand very much about the idea of speed bumps.  I ride my bicycle through Lexington Oaks on a daily basis and yes,e their are too many speeders traveling in Lexington Oaks.  Many of them are residents.  However, speed bumps are not the answer.  While they may slow traffic to a degree, they also are extremely hard on the suspension and the mechanics of our own vehicles.  Automobiles are expensive to maintain as they come from the factory.  Ther is no need to add the expense caused to them as a result of  speed bumps.

Regarding the issue of speeding and speed bumps along the main blvd, I have a few comments/suggestions:

1.  Speeding, this is an ongoing issue and if drivers aren't adhering to the current 35mph, does anyone actually believe they will adhere to 30?  I sincerely doubt it, especially when during the reconstruction of the blvd, speeding was still evident.  Everyone in this development needs to be responsible for their own actions and that of their families.  Children aren't 'playing' along the blvd, but they are riding their bikes or walking with their families; as well as those out for a stroll or walking their pets.  I've seen once too often cars exceeding the limit by more than just 5 mph, in fact many exceed by 10-15 mph.  Warnings, tickets and concern in this forum have been issued, yet drivers are not paying attention.  What will it take to listen and abide by the rules of the road?  I pray it is not your wife, husband, son, daughter or parent who pays the consequence for their actions or that of a neighbor.

2.  Speed bumps will hinder emergency response times due to having to slow down to maneuver these along the road.  Has anyone thought of strategically placing stop signs, especially on bends where there may be a blind spot?  Stop signs should not hinder emergency vehicles and, therefore, response times.

I have a referral for Lawn Irrigation Services.

I had problems with my sprinklers and called All Florida Irrigation Services.  They came out in a few days and arrived at the agreed upon time.  (Actually they were early).   I thought I might need a new zone put in but they said I just needed some new rotating sprinkler heads.  (They didn't try to sell me something I didn't need).  We made an appointment and they showed up right on time again.   I was very impressed.  They did an excellent job and adjusted all my sprinklers.  Their phone number is 813-833-3809.
