re: This week's news September 20, 2007

Hello everyone,

I want to thank everyone who made it to the Florida-Friendly workshop on Saturday for taking time out of your busy lives to come out and spend your afternoon with us. I hope the workshop was informative and answered a lot of your questions.

On another note: PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE ALLIGATORS

It really is a shame when these animals are removed from our ponds. I don't know if you are aware of this or not but the alligators being in the ponds are an advantage to our community. They help to keep the ponds clean. Most of the alligators are not a threat and keep to themselves unless provoked. By feeding the alligators you are not only creating a major problem but also hurting the natural wild life. There is really no need to call and have the alligators removed. Last week, I received a call about a resident feeding an alligator in the pond behind my home. We were fortunate enough to have 2 alligators and a Cayman. The following evening all 3 were removed because the resident who fed the alligator called and said they had a nuisance alligator. Frankly, we had been watching the three all summer. They never bothered anyone until that incident. So I am asking each of you. Please leave the alligators alone. They are not hurting anyone.

Hello Residents , Neighbors & Friends,

I would like to share some news with all of you.    Our organization would like let you know, our 4th Anniversary is coming up on this day and we all will be out in front of all villages asking for some help.  Our intentions are to request some help by way of a small donation to help us keep moving forward with our patrolling this community.  Any amount would be accepted by us to help.  Our patrolling this community has been affective and hopefully, with some help from our residents, we can utilize better tactics out there by receiving a small donation.  We all know we are appreciated by all of you and we are looking forward to continue to move forward as long as we have volunteers.  Speaking of volunteers, our organization could use 40 more volunteers to help us.  We are only asking 2 hours every other week for patrolling and you will truly enjoy what we do.  Safe ?  Very Safe.  We are a group of residents that perform as a team and give it our all helping the Sheriffs Office.  Please, this is your community and we need as many of you to help us keep our community a safe place to live.  You can reach me by phone, or E-mail me for some of your questions.  Please give this some thought, besides, you might enjoy yourself meeting all of us and getting this job done.
