Tis the Season:

 

The residents have out done themselves this year. It's beautiful to drive through the villages and view all the lovely decoration displays. A special thanks to the residents who took it upon themselves again this year to decorate the individual village entrances, each and every one of them looks very festive this holiday season.

 

I don't know if some of you are aware or not, that the decorations on the monuments were provided my individual residents in your villages that took the time to decorate your monument, for everyone's enjoyment. I think all these elves deserve a big round of applause!!!

 

For all of you that have not heard, the Master HOA voted to donate postage to ship packages to our troops in time for Christmas. Attached is a message from Peter Rygiel. (Please open attached file.)

 

We have our first response from our packages to the Troops!  I'll be putting this on the website as well, minus his email information.  Beth, if you could do the same with the Pipeline, and reference

I can't tell you how much the troops appreciate receiving mail and packages from home. It's hard for anyone to be far away from friends and family but especially during the holidays. If you are interested in sending a package to the troops, there are packages already filled at the Boyette Rd Post Office all you have to do is pay for postage. Your kindness will be well appreciated.

Hi Folks,

As like last year, we have the same problem.  Christmas decorations have become a target for our little rascals as usual.  I wish I could understand their reasoning for this, but perhaps we may never know.  Keep your eyes open for groups of teenagers from the hours of 8:00 P.M. till when ever.  They did a number in North Hampton last night and I am not sure if any other villages were hit.  We were out there all night trying to catch up with them, but had no luck.  We also had two Deputy Cruisers as well. but as usual, our gold course appears to be their exit.  Sorry for all this, but our community is not alone, everyone is getting hit with these problems.  If you see anything that looks suspicious, please dial the Non-Emergency Number.  That number is : 813 929-1204.  Then please call our CWP for assistance.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our women and men over there need to know we are thinking about them.

In response to  statement about speed bumps. I do work for the Fire Dept. and do drive the very large and heavy trucks thru traffic, it does slow down response times and due to the fact that they need to slow down slower than cars to drive over them, because of their heavy weight, it takes awhile to get them up to speed again. Also, to drive and ride in the back of ambulance is terrible for patients that you are trying keep stable. They are taller vehicles, so they rock back and forth terribly, especially over speed bumps.

 

As for the hitting of the people in Lexington Oaks, I say speed bumps will not cure that issue. People still have to pay attention and I have seen in other areas that speeders will always speed know matter what the obstacle is. As a matter of fact it makes them go faster to the next bump because of them, I have seem move faster to hurry up, which will still create havoc.

 

All I ask, is go and talk with a local Firefighter and asked them about speed bumps & tell them of your state capital findings on speed bumps.

 

Lastly, I do know its an issue and its hard to come up with a solution. But speed bumps is a mistake.

I have an item I wanted to report.  On the same side as Arlington Village going down the Blvd, (towards the golf course),  behind the 2nd 'clump' of trees is some sort of 'cabinet? that has been dumped there'.  I have been walking and have seen this for quite a while.  I kept thinking the landscape company would do something, but maybe then didn't see it either.

The other item is 'tiles'.  I have been 'chasing a crack' in the kitchen since I moved in, and I am running out of tiles.  I was wondering if there was a way to see if anyone else in Lex Oaks, has more of the same tiles that I have and would let me buy them.  Someone may have more spare tiles than they think they might need and it would be a way for them to get rid of them.   My tiles are Celebration Square, and the home was built in 2000.  Do you have any recommendation on how I might get this information out?

ATTENTION: "PARENTS OF SKATEBOARDING CHILDREN:

                                                                                                                           Please read carefully and have a talk with your children.  Last evening, December 5th, around 7:30 PM I made a trip over to Sweetbay Grocery store via Post Oak Road.  Any of you who have traveled this road after dark know that the curves hide obstacles until you automobile lights have rounded the curve and focus on the objects ahead.  This created a near tradgedy last evening.  Just as I was rounding the last curve and approaching Old Pasco Road I caught a glimpse of movement.  It was a teenage male wearing very dark clothing riding his skateboard.  With a quick jerk of my steering wheel and a bounce off the curb, I missed striking a young man.  I immediately turned around and went back to find him still skateboarding in the middle of the road. Hopefully I gave him a gentle reprimand for his safety.  I informed him he should never be riding a winding, heavily traveled road after dark, and certainly never with dark clothes (no reflective clothing mind you, was worn by the individual) and he had no flashlight to warn drivers of his position.  I suggested he pick up his skateboard and continue walking  toward Lexington Oaks Blvd (the direction he was headed)  where he could then have the sidewalk available to ride.  Instead he just looked at me and grunted and continued on his way as if I had never spoken to him.  That road is dangerous which I know all too well as I ride my bicycle across it during the daylight hours, but never after dark.  Fortunately, I averted an accident with a young man, but do wish that all of you will speak to your children and explain this hazard.  I don't know how I could have lived with myself had I have hit and severely injured or possibly killed the youngster.  I offer this suggestion to those of you who LOVE your children "PLEASE talk with them about this danger in skateboarding".

Bob, my commander just sent me an e-mail. He asked me if you could send us Beanie Babies and stuffed animals to give to the Iraqi children, as they have very few toys. We still have some Beanie Babies and stuffed animals, that you sent a few weeks ago. I will send this supply to them.

I know you are going to Hawaii soon. If you are able to send me some Beanie Babies/stuffed animals when you return from Hawaii that would  great.
