Italian Feast Fundraiser: Friday, March 27, at 6:00 P.M.

The Lexington Oaks Women's Club is holding their annual Italian Feast at the community center and wishes to invite all to join them for a delicious Italian dinner. The food will be provided, prepared, and served by the Ladies of our Women's club.

This is an event for everyone. You can come alone or bring the whole family. Just about everyone loves Italian food!

Serving begins at 6:00 P.M. and continues for as long as the food lasts. The cost is only $5.00 per person, $3.00 for children age 9 and under, and a portion of the proceeds will go to charity. (Quail Hollow Elementary School and Sunrise of Pasco County.

Our CWP Organization is having a open house meeting to all residents regarding crime within our community and other adjoining communities. This is to define the meaning of different types of crime and how to recognize differences of them. Our meeting starts at 7:00 P.M. on the 22nd of October. The Sheriffs Office will be conducting the meeting . If you can, could you please send out a notice to as many residents as you can. I wasn't sure if you were still sending E-mails out, but if you are, it would be appreciated by my organization and myself. This meeting should be very informative and many residents should benefit from their discussions.

URGENT NOTE: SEE THE LETTER BELOW FROM THE SALVATION ARMY. They have decided to build on the land across from Lexington Oaks. Despite their efforts to make the store attractive, it is our opinion that the store will keep our property values down, much like putting in a Pawn Shop or industrial-type business. You do not see Goodwill or Salvation Army stores in New Tampa, those residents would never allow it. We need to keep up the pressure on our city officials to block their ability to build on that property.

Jim O'Brien found a buyer for their property, and they would reap a profit from selling it, but they have refused to sell. As residents, if we write letters to them stating that we will not do business or provide contributions, then they may reconsider. Why do they want to build there? Because they think they will get contributions from 1500 Lexington Oaks homes, of course! Could they fill their store with goods to sell without our contributions? I doubt it!

It has been some months since I spoke with you last but I wanted to take

this opportunity to follow up with you and thank you for your concern and

interest in The Salvation Army's efforts to find the most feasible location

for a planned new Family Store location in the Wesley Chapel area. After

carefully considering the alternative locations that were suggested, The

Salvation Army has determined that the present location at State Road 54

and Lexington Oaks Blvd. is still the most feasible location for our use.

In the near future, we will be moving forward with the construction of a

new modern Family Store facility and also with a strong commitment to being

a consistent and conscientious good neighbor in the Wesley Chapel

community. We will certainly work hard to be an asset to the community by

providing a variety of items for shoppers and bargain hunters at very

reasonable prices. We also hope to provide for many, a convenient way to

make tax-deductible donations of no longer needed household items which

will in turn, continue to help The Salvation Army help others. We are

committed to doing this with a well-maintained and efficiently run facility

that we hope the community, over time, will appreciate and feel good about.

I have attached a letter to any concerned resident of the area which

explains our rationale for moving forward with this county approved

project. I hope that it will be helpful in addressing a number of sincere

Dear Concerned Resident,

The Salvation Army's decision to proceed with plans to construct a new modern family store on State Road 54 west of I-75 at Lexington Oaks Boulevard was determined by various factors which I will try to summarize as follows:

(1) The present site owned by The Salvation Army at State Road 54 and Lexington Oaks Boulevard which was approved by the county for our intended commercial use only, lends itself to greater visibility and access than any other commercially zoned site that The Salvation Army was able to consider. Two other sites considered had either retail businesses blocking the view of the available property or had substantial road widening work which was yet to be done by the county at a later date.

(2) Another consideration was that at the other two considered sites, construction of a new retail family store facility would have been on the same side of the street as existing housing developments. At the existing owned location, construction would take place on the opposite side of the street and would therefore be less intrusive.

(3) The time and resources already invested in the presently owned property in terms of engineering and permitting work at a site already approved by the county for such use would be lost.

(4) The Salvation Army is committed to being a good retail neighbor at the presently owned State Road 54 site and will make every effort to run its retail business in an efficient orderly manner. This would include appropriate landscaping work at the new modern family store site.

(5) The Salvation Army would only hire the same individuals for employment who would be eligible for employment at other businesses and retail entities in the immediate area. All potential employees have to pass background screening guidelines set forth by our territorial headquarters office. Sexual offenders are not eligible for employment.

(6) We believe that this new modern family store location at our presently owned and county approved site would serve effectively as a retail outlet providing desirable household goods and collectibles at economic prices to bargain hunters and collectors from across the socio-economic spectrum. We also feel that it would serve the community by giving residents a convenient and efficient way to make tax-deductible donations of no longer needed but useable household items such as clothing, furniture and collectibles. Proceeds from the sale of family store items go to support the on-going people helping services of The Salvation Army.

Massachusetts Woman Kills Self Before Home Foreclosure

TAUNTON, Mass. - A 53-year-old wife and mother fatally shot herself shortly after faxing a letter to her mortgage company saying that by the time they foreclosed on her house that day, she would be dead.

Police said that Carlene Balderrama used her husband's high-powered rifle to kill herself Tuesday afternoon, shortly after faxing the letter at 2:30 p.m. The mortgage company called police, who found Balderrama's body at 3:30 p.m. The auction was scheduled to start at 5 p.m. and interested buyers arrived at the property in Taunton, about 35 miles south of Boston, while Balderrama's body was still inside, according to Taunton police chief Raymond O'Berg. Police did not immediately release the name of the mortgage company.

O'Berg said Balderrama's fax read, in part, "By the time you foreclose on my house I'll be dead." O'Berg also said a suicide note found next to Balderrama told her husband, John, and 24-year-old son to "take the (life) insurance money and pay for the house." "I had no clue," said John Balderrama explaining that his wife handled all the couple's finances. "I'm just lost. I tell you I'm beside myself."

He said Carlene had been intercepting letters from the mortgage company and shredding them without his knowledge. He had no idea she hadn't paid the mortgage in 42 months. "She put in her suicide note that it got overwhelming for her," he told The Associated Press in a phone interview Wednesday. "Apparently she didn't have anyone to talk to. She didn't come to me. I don't know why."

John Balderrama filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy three times from 2004 to 2006, but the courts dismissed the petitions. Debtors who declare bankruptcy under Chapter 13 generally can keep their homes while paying off their debts under a court-approved reorganization plan.

Looking for something to do with the kids this summer? The MOMS Club of Wesley Chapel- NW (Moms Offering Mom Support) has a busy summer planned for the family. Summer camp activities will be held every Wednesday from June through August. With varied activities from a karate class to MOSI to tours the kids are sure to have a great time and get to know some new friends! One of the trips near the end of the summer is to Pasco County Recycling.

In addition to summer camp activities, the MOMS club recently began "Kids in the Kitchen" to introduce toddlers and preschoolers to basic cooking skills and measurement. The MOMS club also started a Kids Book club to introduce children to a variety of stories with similar themes; connect the children to real life settings similar to themes explored; and encourage learning and discovery through reading, arts and crafts, music and hands on projects and experiences related to monthly themes.

The MOMS club is a non-profit organization that offers playgroups, field trips, park days, mom's night out, family events and much more. This chapter of MOMS Club in Wesley Chapel is open to any stay-at-home mom who lives in Wesley Chapel. Prospective members and their children are invited to attend the next monthly meeting on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 10am in the Lexington Oaks clubhouse. Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am Command Sergeant Major Drew Craig, CSM for the 720th Military Police Battalion home based in Fort Hood, Texas and currently days away from completing a 15-month tour in Baghdad, Iraq. I found this distribution list on a note from Mr. Bob Williams and it appears that it is a consolidated list that includes many of those he supports and those that assist him in the support of our troops. I wanted to send a "thank you" to all those that help Bob and support our Soldiers, and to share how much his support has meant over the past 15-months for the men and women of the 720th Military Police Battalion.

The support provided to my Soldiers by Mr. Williams during this deployment has made an incalculable difference in both morale and standard of living. During our tour Mr. Williams has provided snacks, coffee, small electronics, basketball goals and other sports equipment, and a list of items that is just too extensive to include in this note. As I told Mr. Williams in our first exchange of emails, the Army provides the Soldiers all the things they "need" here, but there are comfort items that go a long way towards improving morale and quality of life, and he has come through in a big way.

I know that there are many of you that helped him, and to you we also owe a debt of gratitude. Thank each of you that assisted him in this endeavor. Life here was much better because of your generosity and support.

My battalion and I leave here in a couple of days, but we will never forget the support of Mr. Williams and those that made his support possible. Thank you to each and every one of you.

I also noted that the distribution list contains a good number of military addresses; no doubt the other units that Mr. Williams supports. Good luck to each of you and God's speed as you finish your tours.

MOMS Club begins new service project

Three issues often weigh heavy on the minds of new moms: how to loose the extra pregnancy pounds, how to find time to exercise, and how to establish healthy habits for their families. The MOMS Club (Moms Offering Mom Support) Club of Wesley Chapel will address these hot topics at its next meeting. A fitness trainer will be there to talk about nutrition, fitness, & our health. Also at this meeting, the MOMS Club will begin collecting new and/or very gently used teddy bears and other stuffed animals to give to local Emergency, Police and Fire Officials to carry in their vehicles to comfort children at accident or crime scenes.

Parents dropping off their kids for the school bus in the morning should be courteous of other people's property while parking their vehicles in front of neighboring homes.

There has been a significant problem in Saratoga on the corner of War Admiral and Saratoga, where people have damaged lawns with their vehicles by parking on or running over the grass. In addition, there is a congestion of cars idling in front of people's homes on both sides of the road while they wait for the bus.

If you are one of these people that drops their child off, please be courteous of other people's property. Do not park or run over any grass in a person's home. Do not park or turn into the driveway's of nearby neighbors. Do not leave your car idling for long periods of time in front of people's homes.

I am absolutely frustrated at what I see EVERY morning between 6:10 & 6:20AM. I leave my village & speeders whipping by me. I flash my lights & it is totally ignored. I also see this problem anywhere between 5:30 - 6:30 PM. I followed several cars on a particular evening and they were all going into Maywood, this does not account for other village. Most of the time, in the evening, drivers are talking on their cell phones & not paying attention to anything. If cars are doing the speed limit of 35mph in the left lane cars go into the right lane, pass you & speed into the left lane, especially on the round about. Hello Folks,

Communication in communities is important and is very helpful to get things accomplished when necessary. Our community has been very lucky to have means of important information reaching many homes. Many efforts are in play in here, and imagine if we all didn't have this. How would we all get things done ? Ever since I moved in here, it has been comfortable to know, we have residents that go the distance and assert themselves in many community projects. This is great and we all should applaud all of them. When people travel to search for a home, it's a natural instinct to observe the surroundings where you might buy a home and settle down. We do this for our own safety and to insure our families will be comfortable. We all buy with good intentions and do the best we can. Within our community, we have many community projects going on and it appears to be working 100 % for all who participate. This is good, because it expresses interest and concern for one another.

I know, many of you have positions with jobs and many have the positions of raising little ones as well. But there are still some who have time to get involved with some projects that could benefit not only yourselves, but your neighbors and friends that live in here.

Our Lexington Oaks, Crime Watch Patrol Organization is just one of the projects in here that make a difference. Four and a half years of a difference and still going strong. I have come to an understanding that this community has accepted us and supports us 100 % as well. This is good also. And from all of us, we sincerely thank you for your support. I guess you all know what's coming next . Right !!!!

What we are trying to do in here is to make our community a safer place to live for all of us. I know at times, we say to our selves, " NA, It Couldn't Happen Here ", and we move on to other thoughts. Well, things do happen and many of us never find out without taking the time to get involved. For instance, our Pipeline News has much information and without this, it could be months before you ever even find out. Folks, our program would be nothing without people like you, and believe it or not, the more residents we have with us, makes a big difference. I believe by now , after 4 and a half years, this entire community knows our intentions for doing what we do. So, there is no need to constantly request members to help. This has always been an on going request from us and probably will stand as such. Yes, we need dispatchers and patrollers to help us. Just two hours per week will surely help us.

If you cannot help, I would like to request some input from some who can E-mail us with suggestions that could better our organization. Or even give us information about things that are taking place close by to your homes that are not favorable to you or your neighbors. We keep residents names and addresses confidential and always will. We are all residents that will listen and apply anything that will better the system. Today, 01 / 20 / 08 a report was issued to me regarding a " Snowshoe Siamese Cat " that was hit by a vehicle about 11:30 P.M. . This cat was hit in front of 5411 Spectacular Bid Drive, in North Hampton Village. The cat was taken to Tampa Bay Emergency Vet Hospitol on E. Bears Ave. The cat was apparently a house cat and very clean. I do not know the condition of this animal. If anyone knows of someone that owns a cat like this, please contact " Rick Fisher " at : 813 994-9420 or 813 390-7579.

Recently, the Sheriffs Office Traffic Division has given us the courtesy of monitoring our community for speeders. This request was issued by our CWP Organization. Our CWP Organization responded to calls coming in from residents. There is no doubt, our community speeders have been catching up to I-75 Traffic and this is going to be one big concern to anyone who walks , rides their bikes, or other vehicles obeying our traffic signs along Lexington Oaks Blvd. To go further, my day patrols have reported a couple of speeders totally disregarding any traffic signs on our Blvd. One particular resident, owning a Red Honda Fit exceeding the speed limit between 50 and 70 MPH on our Lexington Oaks Blvd., leaving our community around 7:30 A.M. in the morning. We have a Tag number of this vehicle and it will be reported to our Sheriffs Office, not just for speeding, but speeding with our children getting on board school buses present. Apparently, this young lady has no concern for others especially our children. What is it going to take for this to stop, ? Someone Getting Killed ?

Our CWP Organization works hard for this community. not to have our children arrested, or to harass any residents, but to protect this community from anyone who thinks they can come into it and hurt us. Every resident that lives in here should be proud to have such an organization working for them as we do.

This is a No Brainer.

At this time, I am pleading to all residents, pass this message on to all of your neighbors, friends, ETC, stop the speeding now or someone is going to loose something very precious to them.

My patrol vehicle dedicates many hours for patrolling and what do they get in return, speeders passing them at excessive speeds and laughing at them when they pass them. This my friends will stop and stop very soon. We have many Tag Numbers that belong to speeders and they will be reported. What happens with this situation will be something " Not To Laugh About ".

The funny part is, almost all of them are young adults. I receive Calls, E-mails from many residents complaining to me saying, " Where Are The Sheriffs Deputies When This Is Happening ? " Folks, do you honestly believe our Sheriffs Office will keep deputies in here every day to watch this community ? They are short handed as it is, this is why we started our CWP program, to assist the Sheriffs Office with our Eyes & Ears.

Last, please don't get the wrong message with this article, this is not to express a threat to anyone, but actually, it is intended to advise everyone, we do not want our residents hurt, or our children , to go some more, we also have wild life in here that was here first.

Another Lexington Oaks resident and myself are in charge of collecting Box Tops for Education, Campbells A+ labels, Tyson labels, used batteries and ink jet cartridges for Quail Hollow Elementary School. For each of these items QHES receives cash to help buy things the school needs.

If our residents with kids at QHES could clip and turn in these items it would benefit the school tremendously. It is very easy to do and only takes a minute. Even residence in our neighborhood that don't have a child attending QHES could help. They only need to collect the items and then contact me when they have some for me to collect.

I would like to share this with all Lexington Oak neighbors through the Pipeline.

I took my car over to our neighbor, Hyundai of Wesley Chapel today to be detailed. They did it in about 2 to 3 hours and it looks great! The Hyundai detail folks did everything; wash, wax the outside and under the trunk and hood, shampooed the carpet, mats and seats, cleaned windows inside and out and they even cleaned the engine! WOW...the engine looks new as well. And the price was very reasonable.

I would highly recommend to everyone, take your car(s) to our neighbor, Hyundai of Wesley Chapel and have them detailed. Give them a call and ask for Andrew...he will take care of you.

Hello to all!! Here we are the beginning of a brand new year. Hopefully, you have all received your Lexington Oaks Newsletter and had time to scan through it. There are lots of exciting things happening here in Lexington Oaks this year. Starting with the upcoming annual meeting in February.

The CDD is working on the new fitness center, and it looks as though SR54 will be opening soon which is great news for us as the front pavers are going to be fixed when SR54 opens.

I hope all of you took the time to register to vote. The Presidential primary election is going to be January 29, 2008. So mark your calendars and get out to vote.

Our Master HOA elections are going to be held in February. The cut-off for anyone interested in running for a position on the board is January 18, 2008.

Tis the Season:

The residents have out done themselves this year. It's beautiful to drive through the villages and view all the lovely decoration displays. A special thanks to the residents who took it upon themselves again this year to decorate the individual village entrances, each and every one of them looks very festive this holiday season.

I don't know if some of you are aware or not, that the decorations on the monuments were provided my individual residents in your villages that took the time to decorate your monument, for everyone's enjoyment. I think all these elves deserve a big round of applause!!!

For all of you that have not heard, the Master HOA voted to donate postage to ship packages to our troops in time for Christmas. Attached is a message from Peter Rygiel. (Please open attached file.)

As like last year, we have the same problem. Christmas decorations have become a target for our little rascals as usual. I wish I could understand their reasoning for this, but perhaps we may never know. Keep your eyes open for groups of teenagers from the hours of 8:00 P.M. till when ever. They did a number in North Hampton last night and I am not sure if any other villages were hit. We were out there all night trying to catch up with them, but had no luck. We also had two Deputy Cruisers as well. but as usual, our gold course appears to be their exit. Sorry for all this, but our community is not alone, everyone is getting hit with these problems. In response to statement about speed bumps. I do work for the Fire Dept. and do drive the very large and heavy trucks thru traffic, it does slow down response times and due to the fact that they need to slow down slower than cars to drive over them, because of their heavy weight, it takes awhile to get them up to speed again. Also, to drive and ride in the back of ambulance is terrible for patients that you are trying keep stable. They are taller vehicles, so they rock back and forth terribly, especially over speed bumps.

As for the hitting of the people in Lexington Oaks, I say speed bumps will not cure that issue. People still have to pay attention and I have seen in other areas that speeders will always speed know matter what the obstacle is. As a matter of fact it makes them go faster to the next bump because of them, I have seem move faster to hurry up, which will still create havoc.

All I ask, is go and talk with a local Firefighter and asked them about speed bumps & tell them of your state capital findings on speed bumps.

Lastly, I do know its an issue and its hard to come up with a solution. But speed bumps is a mistake.

I have an item I wanted to report. On the same side as Arlington Village going down the Blvd, (towards the golf course), behind the 2nd 'clump' of trees is some sort of 'cabinet? that has been dumped there'. I have been walking and have seen this for quite a while. I kept thinking the landscape company would do something, but maybe then didn't see it either.

The other item is 'tiles'. I have been 'chasing a crack' in the kitchen since I moved in, and I am running out of tiles. I was wondering if there was a way to see if anyone else in Lex Oaks, has more of the same tiles that I have and would let me buy them. Someone may have more spare tiles than they think they might need and it would be a way for them to get rid of them. My tiles are Celebration Square, and the home was built in 2000. Do you have any recommendation on how I might get this information out?

ATTENTION: "PARENTS OF SKATEBOARDING CHILDREN:

Please read carefully and have a talk with your children. Last evening, December 5th, around 7:30 PM I made a trip over to Sweetbay Grocery store via Post Oak Road. Any of you who have traveled this road after dark know that the curves hide obstacles until you automobile lights have rounded the curve and focus on the objects ahead. This created a near tradgedy last evening. Just as I was rounding the last curve and approaching Old Pasco Road I caught a glimpse of movement. It was a teenage male wearing very dark clothing riding his skateboard. With a quick jerk of my steering wheel and a bounce off the curb, I missed striking a young man. I immediately turned around and went back to find him still skateboarding in the middle of the road. Hopefully I gave him a gentle reprimand for his safety. I informed him he should never be riding a winding, heavily traveled road after dark, and certainly never with dark clothes (no reflective clothing mind you, was worn by the individual) and he had no flashlight to warn drivers of his position. I suggested he pick up his skateboard and continue walking toward Lexington Oaks Blvd (the direction he was headed) where he could then have the sidewalk available to ride. Instead he just looked at me and grunted and continued on his way as if I had never spoken to him. That road is dangerous which I know all too well as I ride my bicycle across it during the daylight hours, but never after dark. Fortunately, I averted an accident with a young man, but do wish that all of you will speak to your children and explain this hazard. I don't know how I could have lived with myself had I have hit and severely injured or possibly killed the youngster. I offer this suggestion to those of you who LOVE your children "PLEASE talk with them about this danger in skateboarding".

Hello everyone!!!!

The holidays are fast approaching and everyone is busy with their preparations there a just a few things I wanted to mention this week.

The community Adult holiday party will be held on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 7:00 pm. So bring some goodies to share, and also don't forget your white elephant wrapped gift. Please R.S.V.P to the clubhouse at 907-8718 so they can prepare for the event.

Also, Bingo is over until after the first of the year and will resume then. Bunko's last night of the year will be December 14.

I have noticed walking through the community that more people are picking up after your pets and want to thank everyone for being responsible. It definitely makes walking the Blvd. so much nicer.

Everyone has done a fantastic job again this year to make our holiday season beautiful with their decorations. If you get a chance during the season, you should definitely take a look.

Thank you for the time in allowing me to share my thoughts on two issues of safety in our community.

I was wondering if the HOA or CDD is aware that Lexington Oaks has fallen to darkness lately? I understand that when a street lamp is out we can contact Withlachoochie Electric and inform them of the lamp number and location, but is anyone actually following up with the company? It seems that any and all reports to the company fall to the wayside. Drive up Lexington Oaks Blvd. at night and you can see numerous lights out in the center medium, not counting the numerous smaller street lamps that are out or blinking on/off(which is an indication that the bulb is getting weak and will soon blow) throughout the individual communities. Informing resident to email or call the electric company is a nice jester but it is not solving the problem.

The other issue that has been in and out of the email transmissions lately concerns the speeding on Lexington Oaks Blvd. I especially find quite humoring that speed bumps will deter emergency response vehicles ito be quite "lame". The state capitol has speed bumps located around its property and if you really, really researched it, I am sure you would find that the time it takes emergency vehicles to respond to emergencies is not going make much difference if they need to drive over a speed bump. Let's face it, if you had speed bumps you would probably deter any pedestrians from getting hit in the first place which would require an emergency vehicle to respond. It is quite obvious to most drivers in the community and county that the sheriffs office is not going to send patrols to do speed checks because there is obviously not enough officers to cover Pasco county. Think about it. When was the last time you saw a sheriffs patrol car in the community? Not driving down Lexington Oaks Blvd, but in the individual community roads. They don't even respond to car accidents 80% of the time in this county. They are spread out and understaffed.

Com-on HOA and CDD representatives. Solve these two issues and possibly save a life.

WESLEY CHAPEL - No one was injured, but a family and its dog are temporarily without a home after a fire damaged part of a house in the Lexington Oaks subdivision Monday afternoon, Pasco Fire Rescue said.

Firefighters were called to 26734 Cigar Drive at 3:50 p.m. and the fire was out 15 minutes later, Battalion Chief Darrell Ryals said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
"They aggressively attacked [the fire], kept it in the garage and out of the attic," Ryals said of the firefighters. "They saved a lot of heirlooms."

The American Red Cross is assisting the family.

Hello everyone!

Sorry this is so late, this month is NANO writer's month so I have been busy working on my novel and had very little time for anything else.

There are several interesting things going on. First of all Monday is Veteran's day. Let's all show our support and fly our flags proudly.

Did you know that at the Boyette Road post office they have boxes to send to our troops? Especially with the upcoming holidays these men and women appreciate receiving something from home. The HOA board is supporting this effort and will be paying postage on some of these boxes. It's a wonderful gesture and you can't find more deserving folks than our troops. The boxes are already packaged all you have to do is pay the postage. Most of these packages range between $17.00- $20.00 a piece.

Also, if you haven't already noticed Toys for Tots boxes have been placed in the community center, the daycare and the golf course pro shop. Anyone interested in giving an unwrapped new toy to this wonderful cause please drop off your donations at these locations. I have been assured that the toys donated will be given to needy children right here in Wesley Chapel. They are also looking for bicycles. Last year along Toys for Tots had over 894 children right here in Wesley Chapel that they helped.

A word from out CWP

Hello Folks,

The following information is important for all of you to know. Please do not take this personal, but this area must be defined more clearly so we all have a better understanding of what our responsibilities are within the Crime Watch Patrol.

Our main objective is to be the eyes and ears for the Pasco County Sheriffs Office. We consist of resident volunteers dedicating our efforts to deter crime, potential crime, and crime in progress. Our personnel dedicates their time to patrolling our community mostly during the evening hours and early morning hours. At times, if we have volunteers, we will be out there patrolling day time hours. We do not have the man or woman power to man phones all day long or all night long. We will receive calls regarding crime in progress, or potential crime about to happen. But first remember, if you are witnessing a crime yourself, please dial 911 , they are the responders to every call that they receive. If there is a problem with solicitors, we cannot do anything about that, all we can do is tell them to leave as you would do. If for any reasons solicitors get touchy with us, we will dial Non-Emergency for assistance and the sheriffs office deputies will follow their guide lines as best they can.

This past week, we have been over run with solicitors from Papa Johns Pizza. The thing to do with this is, " Call Papa Johns Pizza and explain to them, your solicitors are annoying many residents during the day time hours and even going to night time hours. Some of them have been reluctant to listen and leave, but if that occurs, dial Non-Emergency and explain to them as well. We all order from Papa Johns Pizza, but enough is enough, the soliciting has to stop somewhere soon. It is getting annoying to everyone. My phone is off the wall with calls from residents requesting me to kick them out, but my hands are tied with loop holes this organization has found. So, what we have to do is, find another loop hole to have them stop. Trust me, I will be working on that one.

Another area of concern to us is, we receive many calls regarding bikes being left on our grounds. We cannot respond to these calls because we cannot store these bikes. My garage was full with bikes in the last few months and I turned them over to needy people. If you find a bike, list it in the Pipe-Line News for our community, perhaps someone might read it and call to see if it belongs to one of their children.

Please do not take offense to my input, we can only do a certain amount for all of you and these things listed above are not our jurisdiction. Now, if you see someone stealing a bike, yes, if we have patrols out there, we will respond to them.

Please understand, we do not have enough volunteers to do it all, but perhaps when we can recruit more of you to help us, expansion to other areas may take place.

Last, for all of you residents that honored us with a donation on our fundraiser day, October 27th, Saturday, from all of us on the Lexington Oaks Crime Watch Patrol, ( CWP ), we all thank you very much for your efforts to help us. We all appreciate your donations .

Residents voices

Over the last several months I've noticed an increase of speeders along the blvd, many going way above the posted limit or even 5 miles above the posted limit. So, the question remains, what does the community do to fix the problem? Has our BOD discussed this further to provide some measure of relief to this very large problem? I know speed bumps was declined due to the issue of emergency vehicles having to slow down which could cause a delay in response time. However, what about stop signs? Has that been entertained? Emergency vehicles do not have to slow down for those, but motorists do!

Pretty soon we will have external motorist entering and exiting LO with the construction of the shopping area at the entrance. What is it going to take? A fender bender, major collision or a death?

Hello everyone. Halloween is upon so please be extra careful while driving through the community, watch out for little ghouls treat-or-treating. This time of year we have so many children out on Halloween night, let's all try to make it safe and fun for all.

Don't forget clocks are going back November 4, 2007.

I can't stress enough the importance of cleaning up your pet waste. This is a health issue. We are still seeing pet owner's not picking up after their pets. Not only is this illegal on private property but public property as well and the fines can be heavy. Do please take a bag with you on your walks and pick up after your pets.

I know of two people who do not pick up behind their pets. Both live in Saratoga Village on Dark Star Loop. One has a hot dog dog and he goes in everyone's yard and he never picks up after him. The other one always walks his along Lexington Oaks Blvd and you will never see him with a bag with poop.

I agree that this is discussing. I'm a dog owner and always have my bag. If mine goes more then once I use the same bag or come back to clean it up.

Nice message sent to all. Maybe we should start picking it up and throwing in their yard. They probably will get the message after their front lawn is full of their dogs everyday poops.

Good afternoon:

We are well into fall now, not that our temperatures are any reflection on this but several residents have decorated their homes in ghoulish garb for Halloween. Let's here it for all the residents that went all out this year.

I do have a comment to make this week. It seems that several of our residents are choosing to leave their dog messes on the sidewalks along the Lexington Oaks Blvd. or in the grass along side the sidewalks. This is not only a county ordinance prohibiting such conduct but is also against our community deed restrictions.

It has gotten to the point that those that use the walkways for exercise or to stroll their baby carriages along have to dog the messes left behind by these dogs. The other day I found a man standing in my front yard allowing his pet to relieve himself. When I asked the man, to please pick up the mess and offered a bag, he used vile language and told me he was well within his rights to do so as dogs mess in his yard all the time. Difference being is he owns a dog. The man (and I use the term loosely) continued his obscenities when I tried to hand him the package he had left in my yard. When I asked his name and address he was not willing to give me that. Next time I will take a picture and post it in the pipeline. This is appalling that we are subjected to cleaning up after someone else's pet. For those of you that do carry bags and clean up I thank you, this is not directed to you. But it shows that you are concerned about our community and I for one appreciate you pick up. For those of you who do not choose to do so. Shame on you. This is your community as well. You should take pride in where you live, and the area around you, and if you own a pet it is your responsibility to take care of it and clean up after it. Do NOT leave it for someone to walk in, or worse a mother with a stroller and then having to clean the stroller because of the choices you make.

Also, our community yard sale was last weekend. It seems that some felt that it was not advertised well. I happen to know that it was in the Wesley Chapel Leader on Oct 18, 2007 in the community news section. None of the other communities that were also having their sales Saturday the 20th was written up. I also had inserted it several times in the pipeline and it was on the community calendar in our October monthly newsletter along with the sign in the front of the community. I am sorry that it was not as big of a success as some would have liked. Hopefully, we will have a larger showing in our Spring community sale.

I'm again writing about speeding within the community - this one is very important. On two separate occasions (once entering and once leaving LO) a female driving a green car with writing on the windows (Senior 2008), was driving excessively fast on the main blvd . The first time so fast that I was unable to determine the village she would have lived as she had to be traveling at least 50 mph or better. However, the other morning she pulled out of Saratoga village and proceeded to pass me building speed as she did. So this goes out to the parents of this young woman...please talk to her - my son died as a result of driving too fast and I don't wish this on any parent.

Feeding the alligators is a serious offense here in the state of Florida. Individuals caught doing this are subject to a $500.00 fine and/or 60-days in jail.

Also, for those that call on nuisance alligators be aware that it is up to you to check on the traps that are being used daily to see if a gator is on one. You could be cited with Florida Statute 828.12 cruelty to animals. I received this information from the Sarasota in Defense of Animals, Inc. organization.

I am looking for any information about two individuals that were walking around in Northampton Village, one wearing black shorts the other wearing light blue shorts and light blue or white short sleeve T-Shirt. They were on spectacular Bid Drive at approximately 20:55…. These two individuals got into a vehicle in my driveway and removed a purse from it. The wallet in the purse was found and returned.

The police have been called a report is being filed and I have the suspects on video tape.

In response to: Do Not Feed the Alligators

Much has been discussed about the alligators in our community in the Pipeline. Up until about three months ago we had an alligator that would spend the day basking in the sun on our back lawn and we truly enjoyed him. At no time did he ever become aggressive or threaten us in any way – at no time did we ever feed him. Unfortunately one of our neighbors did not feel the same about him and had him removed. Trust me folks removed doesn't mean he's going to enjoy a long life being relocated in another area, removed means he will become someone's purse or belt or tasty snack. The removal of these creatures seems extremely arbitrary to me, while one neighbor lives in fear of them; others find them a pleasing part of the Florida landscape. I remember that at one time in the not so distant past alligators were on the Endangered Species List. If we don't stop "removing" them this will happen again. As stated previously the alligator is a valuable part of the ecosystem, digging gator holes which support a whole community of other creatures and plants and keep the snake population controlled. If you feel your child or dog is in jeopardy, you are not paying enough attention to them. Typically the only time you hear of a gator attack is when someone is doing something stupid; swimming in the ponds or lakes or trying to engage them in some fashion. Please remember when you pick up the phone to have an alligator removed there is no one to represent their side of the story, which is, they are just living here. When I first moved here is was my understanding that an alligator wouldn't be removed unless it was over eight feet long and exhibited aggressive tendencies. I feel if you use that as the rule when you call to have these creatures exterminated there will be fewer removals.

In addition to what Marge is saying: We have gators in our ponds. They are not hurting anyone. Trappers come in with a 45 day permit to trap out our ponds. They are not supposed to trap anything under 4 ft. but this morning a 2 ft gator was trapped in Hawthorne. It had been hooked for 3 days. This is inhuman and the poor baby gator was suffering. The hooks they use on these gators lodge deep into their throats and unless the trapper is called to come back the gator is left to die. Small gators they will sometimes leave as it is not worth their time to come and take them off the snares. I repeat, these gators are not hurting anyone. In the warmer weather they will come up on the shoreline and warm up but they will not go after humans unless they are being fed or provoked. they do not feed on land. They go after frogs, snakes, and fish. They actually keep our ponds clean. These small gators that we have here can not even prey on birds or small dogs. Baby gators are actually food to otters, fish, and turtles. So before calling the nuisance alligator number, please check out the website on alligators and get your facts straight. AND there is an easement at the back of our properties, we may have to maintain them but we do not own the property down by the ponds. These trappers are trespassing.

On another note: PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE ALLIGATORS

It really is a shame when these animals are removed from our ponds. I don't know if you are aware of this or not but the alligators being in the ponds are an advantage to our community. They help to keep the ponds clean. Most of the alligators are not a threat and keep to themselves unless provoked. By feeding the alligators you are not only creating a major problem but also hurting the natural wild life. There is really no need to call and have the alligators removed. Last week, I received a call about a resident feeding an alligator in the pond behind my home. We were fortunate enough to have 2 alligators and a Cayman. The following evening all 3 were removed because the resident who fed the alligator called and said they had a nuisance alligator. Frankly, we had been watching the three all summer. They never bothered anyone until that incident. So I am asking each of you. Please leave the alligators alone. They are not hurting anyone.

F Blindness was a blessing.

Just when you thought you'd heard of everything, somebody makes a movie about ping-pong with a martial arts twist called, Balls of Fury. Following his humiliating defeat at the 1988 Olympic Ping-Pong games, Randy Daytona (Dan Fogler) makes a meager living perfecting his ping-pong night club act. Late one evening, Randy is approached by FBI agent Ernie Rodriquez (George Lopez) with a special assignment to infiltrate an illegal ping-pong tournament organized by a criminal named Feng (Christopher Walken). Since Randy's ping-pong playing skills have deteriorated he seeks out the services of an ill-tempered blind ping-pong master named Wong (James Hong) and his sexy niece, Maggie Wong (Maggie Q). (I thought I could learn how to be a blind ping pong player from Master Wong but the only thing he did was run into things and I can do that on my own.) While Master Wong puts Randy through rigorous training exercises, Maggie sharpens his skills by playing ping-pong with him. Eventually, Randy is allowed to play in the big ping-pong "sudden death" tournament and finds out they really mean "Sudden Death." If you enjoy seeing people being kicked in the groin and chopsticks being shoved up noses and everywhere else, this movie is for you. Except for a couple chuckles it really wasn't funny and the closer it limped to the end the more ridiculous it became. The script was lame and the plot was just as hollow as the ping-pong balls. This is another one of those films that if I could have found the door to the theater I would have left. Because of a great Def Leopard sound track I will move this film up to a D+ rating.

This movie has been given a PG13 rating by the MPAA

The Florida-Friendly Landscape and Tree care workshop is certainly going to be an interesting afternoon for all in attendance. There will be two excellent speakers on hand to provide you will a wealth of information as well being professionals in their fields they are encouraging you to bring your questions.

This free educational program will provide us all with concise overview of landscaping, irrigation, pest problems, pruning, proper tree care amongst many other issues that you might be experiencing.

The guest speakers will be Doris Heitzmann she is the Florida-friendly neighborhood and yards community outreach coordinator from the Extension Service and has been working within our community with Pimlico Village.

This message is true about the cars blocking the intersections and causing blind spots. I myself was going to contact someone to see what could be done about it, because it truly is an accident waiting to happen. Is there an ordinance like with fire hydrates that you have to be parked so many feet away? I know that the community has signs posted no parking on any street at any time.

We use to live up North with rain and snow, we would walk to the bus stop and our parents would drop us off at the corner and not block the street with their cars. When we were very small our parents would walk with us to the corner and stand there until the buses picked us up. With the weather being so nice in Florida let us show our children how to be considerate of others and form good physical fitness habits by taking a little walk to the corners.

Dear Residents,

I neglected to mention to the parents waiting at the bus stops with their children in the morning and afternoon please be respectful of your neighbors that live near these bus stops. I received this email, and I felt it needed to get out.

With regard to school starting; When the parents come to pick up their children in the afternoon and take them in the morning they are parking on both sides of the road, park in front of mailboxes at delivery time, block driveways and park so close to Lex Oaks Blvd that they block the sidewalks on the main Blvd. This is a concern because of blind spot it causes when you enter your community and we did not get our mail yesterday, when I called the post office because my mail was not picked up they said my mailbox was blocked. My wife and I had to do the same procedure when our children were younger and feel for the parents, but they still need to be considerate. If you are the wrong person to send this email, where should this be directed?

The new school year has started for Pasco County this week as I am sure everyone is aware of. The school buses are back in the community and the kids are back at the bus stops. Please use caution while driving as we don't want any one hurt.

Luckily hurricane Dean missed us, but it has been wreaking havoc throughout the Caribbean and Mexico. It looks as though hurricane season is finally among us and is going to be an active year.

The Crime Watch has located a bicycle during their watch if anyone is missing a bicycle please call the Crime Watch to identify. They would like to return it to the rightful owner. IF this bicycle may be yours please call 994-7110.

They are not that expensive at depot and very easy to install. put them on when you are in the house and you can actually monitor what's happening from your PC inside. The sci-fi film, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, was made in 1956 and was a huge box office draw. A 1978 remake proved to be just as popular as the original, and Hollywood is making a third attempt with a shorter title, The Invasion. When the NASA space shuttle mysteriously crashes, people who rush to the scene and pick through the metal and debris begin changing. Washington, D.C. psychiatrist Carol Bennell (Nicole Kidman) is one of the first people to realize something is wrong. She becomes suspicious when her son Oliver (Jackson Bond) goes trick or treating and returns home with candy covered with a veiny looking substance stuck to it. She takes the candy to a friend of hers named Dr. Ben Driscoll (Daniel Craig) who has it analyzed and realizes it's a spore from outer space that attacks human DNA. The spores remain dormant until the human host falls into deep sleep, and then they begin to multiply at an alarming rate. Not surprisingly, our heroine Carol becomes infected and has to stay awake or she'll turn into a zombie-like creature like everyone else. (I had a similar problem trying to stay awake during this mundane film and turning into an alien was the least of my worries.) As if staying awake isn't stressful enough, Carol begins an intense search for Oliver while being chased either on foot or in a vehicle by aliens in human bodies. I had a feeling this film was in trouble when I learned that another director was brought in halfway through to reshoot some of the scenes. I don't know if it helped or hurt but the pacing was awkward, the editing was choppy and for a thriller, it just wasn't scary. (Okay, I was a little scared when the audience became bored and restless and I knew I wouldn't be able to see them when they ran over me while scrambling for the exit.) The only thing I like in this film over the original is that this movie felt a little more realistic. Maybe that's because there are more weirdo's on the streets today than there were 30 or 40 years ago. I would recommend waiting until this film comes out on video and I'm giving it a C- rating.

When the officer asked me about if I saw anything, I was shocked to hear that most of the crime in the community is committed by kids in our own community. He referenced a number of kids, which sections they lived in, and what they have done. Sounds like this is an internal community issue and parents need to be more aware of what their kids are up to.

TO ALL RESIDENTS OF LEXINGTON OAKS

Dear Residents:

Several of our villages have been burglarized the past several nights.

Cars were found un-locked, and items were taken out of them.

This is a very serious issue. The police were in our community with K-9 units as well searching for 3 teenagers with backpacks.

I can not stress enough the importance of keeping your car doors locked at all times when they are parked outside of your home.

Do NOT leave valuables in your cars. Including money, credit cards, laptops, cell phones, and garage door openers.

I realize that some of you feel that this will never happen to you, but believe me, it does happen.

The sheriff's department and crime watch can only do so much. It is your responsibility to lock your cars. IF you see suspicious persons or suspicious activity in your neighborhoods please CALL 911 immediately.

Be Observant.

For the first time, the WCAA will offer a developmental Fall Baseball & Softball program in 2007. Fall ball is an ideal time for players and coaches to improve their skills and have fun during the off-season.

Our goal is to provide a fun experience for the players, help them develop and refine their baseball and softball skills, and foster a joy for the game.

There will generally be at least one game per week per team, however, some teams may have two games in some weeks in order to fulfill a goal of between 12-18 games by the end of the season.

Since scores are not recorded and standings are not kept, rosters will hold slightly more players than the regular-season, allowing players who are participating in other sports to also play Fall ball when they can make it. Players who join the Fall ball program are asked to make a commitment to participate in practices when they can - however, it is recognized that some players may participate in other sports during the fall season (e.g., soccer, cheerleanding, flag & tackle football, etc.). Game-only participation for multi-sport players is okay.

Registration fees are just $65 for players who are between 5 and 18 years old. The WCAA will offer registrations for these ages; however, will also use best judgment in creating age divisions based on the volume of registrants across the age range.

Play starts the week of August 20th and continues to November 2nd with between twelve and eighteen games being played. Substitution rules are relaxed so all players bat an equal amount and play multiple positions. For players who are looking to make the jump from one division to another, or especially from a smaller to a larger diamond, this is a great opportunity to evaluate your playing level and grow as a player. We need volunteers, managers, and coaches at all levels, so anyone willing to help should provide their level of interest through an online application.

There are so many BIG ones out there to buy, why would the CDD purchase such small ones, that there is no shade at the table? Also, they are fading and not more than 3 months old already! Some parents are getting very upset about the playground. The playground was suppose to have the add ons done last February, and It was started over the summer instead. The playground has been closed all summer long. It should not be taking that long. We have only one playground, and we live in Lexington Oaks, what a shame that it is closed all summer long, and still closed and school is starting in two weeks. What a shame!!! If things are scheduled to be done at a certain time, like Feb. maybe they should get done then. And are we paying these people who are doing the playground full price or are they giving us a discount because its taking forever. What a shame for such a nice community we live in.

I can't remember where I read this but I think given the amount of car burglaries it is important. We all have garage door openers in our cars and we leave the cars in our driveways at night. It's easy for someone to break into the car use the garage door opener to open the garage and have unobserved access to our homes. Well here were are the beginning of August here in Lexington Oaks, with the abundance of rain we have had this past week, the lawns and shrubs are vivid shades of green. The flowers are all in bloom and we haven't had any hurricane warnings as of yet.

I don't know if you all realize how fortunate we all are to have so many resources at our fingertips. Within our community we have our own residents who do landscaping, curbing, painting, interior design, electricians, handymen, and teachers just to name a few. These people are an asset to our community and we can all use one or more of these services from time to time. Why not benefit from using the services of people who reside here in our own community.

If you sit down and make a list of the services you use on a weekly basis, then another list of services that you may need in the future you will find that most of these services are available to you right here in Lexington Oaks.

On another note, don't forget the Florida Friendly landscaping event that will be held up at the Community Center on September 15, 2007. This event should be very interesting, the guest speaker promises to be very helpful to us all. Hope to see all of you there.

I have been researching an article I am writing. The topic is Home invasion. It would be in everyone's best interest to lock your cars, keep your home doors locked and your garage doors closed. Be alert and keep a watchful eye our for your own property and your neighbors. If anyone has been a victim of a home invasion or a burglary and you have information that would be helpful to our community please let me know. All names and addresses will be completely anonymous.

Just a comment on the appearance of the pond behind the Day Care Center. I routinely walk past the pond between the 17th hole and the Day Care Center and find it to be rather polluted with kick balls, plastic building blocks and other debris that obviously come from the facility. I am not trying to blame the facility or cause a stir, but it does seem to be the only pond that looks to have garbage floating in it. Since it is so visible to anyone walking on the sidewalk there, it would be nice if it can be kept up a little better. There's a nice little otter or other water creature that calls that pond his home and I'm sure it would appreciate the pond being kept up.

We needed our pool bath door repaired. It wasn't properly insulated and done with soft pine. Pulte refused to fix it, but gave us the name of a company that they use. It is called Cornerstone Construction of Tampa Bay, Inc. They are in Brandon. When I called, they came out the next day. The work was completed by the following Thursday (it took 2 days). We also had then change our locks. They really did an excellent job. The phone number is 813-653-4966. They do quality work and are reasonable. Their names are Toni and Ron Jones.

Folks, when I write to all of you regarding incidents and reminders of situations going on throughout our community, consider it an Alarm going off to advise all of you, I just don't write to exercise for my fingers. When I receive information regarding crime, or potential crime, consider it " The Alarm System " reaching out to all of you. This is important news and should be carefully understood. I'm sure most of you listen and do understand, but as we continue to patrol, we still see many garage doors left open during the early morning hours. This is not good. Try to remember to close those doors at night before turning in for the night.

Vehicle Burglaries

Reports have come in from another important situation. Many vehicles have been burglarized in our community and according to the sheriffs reports, " Vehicles Were Left Open. " Un-Locked ". At this time, our incoming reports , regarding Vehicle Burglaries have been on the rise and to make you more aware, they are happening between the hours of 9:00 P.M. Through 5:00 A.M.

If you do leave your vehicle un-locked, it is very possible, you will get burglarized. We see many young teen agers walking through our communities doing just this., and without saying, they are reported to the sheriffs office. Some are even older, 20 and older. Some wear Back Packs to store what they can steal. My advice is, Lock Them Vehicle Doors Every Night.

This community is very lucky to have this Pipeline to convey messages, it truly does its job. I hope to convey messages as often as I can, hoping all of you welcome them. So, our alarm has gone off for you and we all hope you can hear them.

Hello everyone,

It's hard to believe that we're already into the middle of July. Hopefully the scorching temperatures aren't putting a damper on any of your favorite activities. I still see the golf course full of golfers even in the afternoon when the temps are in the mid-nineties and the humidity can be cut with a knife. I have a few things to include in this weeks newsletter.

First, I'd like to remind everyone about the upcoming Florida Friendly Landscaping event on September 15, 2007 at the clubhouse. This should be interesting for all.

The District is having a public hearing Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 6:30 P.M. at the clubhouse. The purpose of the public hearing will be to consider the adoption of the District's budgets and assessments. Everyone should have received a letter in the mail regarding this.

Now here are a few comments from some of our residents.

Food for Thought

Lessons from a case of toxic ice cream

In the summer and early fall of 1994, several hundred persons reported developing diarrheal disease -- later confirmed as salmonellosis. The outbreak traced to batches of Schwan's ice cream, which are distributed throughout the United States. Because most food poisoning goes unreported, government scientists investigated how many such untallied cases might be associated with this incident. Their analysis suggests that here too, the true magnitude of the outbreak was considerably larger than had at first been anticipated. They now estimate the tainted ice cream probably sickened some 224,000 people in the United States.

These scientists have also confirmed earlier suspicions: that this food poisoning -- the largest single salmonella-poisoning outbreak ever recorded in the United States -- occurred because ingredients for the ice cream had been transported to the manufacturer in tainted tanker trailers.

Between 800,000 and 4 million cases of salmonella poisoning occur each year in the United States. Roughly one-quarter of the cases involve the same strain of the bacteria (S. enteritidis) implicated in the 1994 ice cream incident.

That outbreak initially puzzled researchers because although homemade ice cream and unpasteurized commercial ice cream have proven sources of food poisoning in the past, Schwan's products had been made from ingredients that had undergone pasteurization to kill any disease-causing microbes.

Investigators from a team of local, state and federal agencies combed Schwan's Marshall, Minn., plant for clues on how the Salmonella had gotten into its ice cream. In the May 16 New England Journal of Medicine, Thomas W. Hennessy of the Minnesota Department of Health, in Minneapolis, and his colleagues now report finding only sound manufacturing practices and good sanitation there.

During their investigation, these researchers did learn, however, that between two and 19 tanker trailer shipments of ice cream premix were used in the production run of each type of ice cream product. So they turned their attention to the trucking firm that delivered this premix.

Upon questioning, the company volunteered that as of July 1, 1994, it had greatly stepped up its hauling of unpasteurized eggs to Minnesota from egg-breaking plants elsewhere in the Midwest. Almost immediately, the trucking company made it a common practice to follow up each such egg-hauling trip with the transport of premix to Schwan's ice cream factory.

Because fresh eggs are a leading source of foodborne Salmonella, health regulations require that trucking firms wash and sanitize tankers after each shipment of liquid eggs. However, federal officials uncovered evidence that the trucker hauling the ice cream premix had a less than sterling record.

Its trailers had not been routinely inspected, record keeping on cleaning proved inadequate, and tanker equipment that came into contact with food sometimes was soiled. Indeed, federal inspectors not only found egg residues inside a trailer after it had undergone a cleaning, but also cracks in the lining of five trailers which could harbor bacteria. Finally, the investigators learned that as a time-saving measure, the trucker allowed its drivers to bypass a cleaning of tankers after they had hauled eggs.

The fact that contamination associated with the food-poisoning in this outbreak now appears small -- on the order of 6 microbes per half-cup serving of ice cream -- points to the need for high levels of vigilance throughout food processing, the researchers say. Observes Martin J. Blaser of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, in Nashville, this is especially true where centralized food production, as is common in the United States, allows a small quantify of pathogens to taint large batches of food that will travel long distances from its source.

Indeed, he points out in an editorial accompanying the study on the ice cream outbreak, salmonellosis is rare in developing countries, even in those where sanitation is poor and diarrheal diseases are endemic. The reason, he suspects, is that most of their food is produced and consumed locally.

In developed countries, he notes, "food production is often so complex that many points at which contamination could occur are simply not recognized." He points out, for instance, that the hauling of both pasteurized and unpasteurized food products by a single vehicle "was not identified until [this latest] investigation was undertaken."

To prevent further outbreaks, Hennessy's team recommends that unless foods will be pasteurized again at some later date, they should never be shipped in vehicles that are ever permitted to carry unpasteurized products.

At this time, according to my incoming information, vehicle burglaries are upon us once again. We have had two vehicle burglaries that were reported to me this past Friday evening. This occurred between the hours of 9:00 P.M. and 1:00 A.M.. My advice to all of you is:

1. When you park your vehicle outside any time during the day or night, be sure to lock your vehicle

doors. Even for just a moment, lock them tight.

2. Garage doors as well, please shut your doors even for just a moment, better to be safe, then sorry.

Remember, when you leave your garage door open, you could be inviting a serious problem for yourself

and your family. You do not want this problem in your life.

3. My incoming reports are valid. It makes me sick in my stomach to write this news, but if my telling

you will prevent a problem, you will here it as often as possible.

My patrols have been advised to regard these incidents as serious ones. They do their jobs in a serious way. Pasco County Sheriffs Office Deputies have been through our community day and night to help ease these problems. I see many residents writing in this Pipeline, complaining of Deputies never being in here. Please be advised, they are in here over and over again. They do not tell anyone when they patrol unless I hire them to do so, then I do know. We work a Sheriffs Office program and report all that goes on in here to them. When they receive reports from any CWP Program, they respond every time to every complaint. Folks, this program the Sheriffs Office put together for communities are one of the best things any community could have. This program belongs to us and we should be glad we have it. Imagine no one in here to see what goes on, regarding crime, we would be hit with crime all day and night and all we could do is dial 911 and wait for them to arrive. We are there eyes and ears and then some. We have been taught to Talk The Talk & Walk The Walk. Our jobs in here are to serve all of you and protect our properties and allow all of you to sleep during the late hours of the night and early morning hours as well. We do this without complaining, we just do it as best we can.

When we have speeders, our jobs are to report this and the deputies come to help.

When we have a crime in progress, they respond on the dime.

If we just call them for justified reasons, they come here to help.

What I am saying is, we are extremely lucky to be able to have this communication with Pasco's Finest Law Enforcement Officers. I know I am proud to serve them, as well as all of you.

Hello everyone, i just was wondering if anyone can help us out. We live in Del Mar, and over the weekend we had something stolen off our truck. My husband has a nice truck that used to have a set of Balls, tan in color that used to hang off the truck by the hitch. We have been here in Lexington Oaks for almost a year and have had two sets of these stolen off the same truck. They had a chain and lock holding them on. We did file a police report, both times. We have gotten many laughs from them being on the truck and teenagers always laugh when they see them. So If anyone knows who has them, or has seen them in their teenagers room, or knows where they are, please let us know, we just want or things back. I want to take a moment to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July. With the upcoming holiday, I know that we will be seeing some fireworks in our community. Please take care when setting them off. We all certainly enjoying seeing the marvelous displays, but in the past we have also had damage done to residents properties. I hope that everyone takes precautions this holiday, safety first, not only to property but little fingers do get curious, and it would be a tragedy for someone to get injured. Also, don't forget to clean up the debris. If you are going to celebrate, take the responsibility to clean up afterwards. Keep our streets and neighborhoods clean. Thank you all for your cooperation. I had an occurrence last week where my step son without our knowledge purchased some ice-cream from a ice-cream truck which came through the neighborhood. That evening my son had a extreme case of diarrhea and was vomiting up, so we took him to the hospital and the Doctor said he probably got food poisoning. We spoke to our neighbor and she said she bought some ice-cream from a vendor who had a truck driving in the neighborhood. She apologized but we had a substantial hospital charge and my wife and I are a bit upset that this has happened. I was wondering if any one else in our community has had a problem like this? Also, I thought this was a non-solicitation neighborhood? I don't want other parents to experience this misfortune so I wanted you to post this email. Any suggestions from anyone as to how to stop this from occurring to any other children?

As summer is upon us, most of us either go away for weekends, or plan a family vacation to enjoy life. A recent Tampa Tribune paper article, June 2007, shows the ZIP CODE for Lexington Oaks changing to 33545. The USPS office at Zephyrhills confirms that our ZIP CODE will not change and will stay as 33544. USPS says the Tampa Tribune made a mistake in their map coverage. If you were to have a ZIP CODE change, you would have received an official USPS letter in the mail.

My wife and I also have been very impressed with the magnificent work that the landscaping company has done. You can definitely see the difference on Lexington Blvd and the entrances to each village. We want to thanks those responsible for having the water fountain installed which gives the community a breath of fresh air, especially in the evening with the lighting.

Can't wait to see what they will do with the entrance, once SR 54 is completed with the road work. Maybe a few Palms and another water fountain? Just throwing my thoughts out there.

On Another subject, has anyone giving thought to installing speed bumps on the roadway to control the daily speeders? Cost effective and probably less expensive than another alternative and delivering caution to those that speed. Again, just placing our thoughts on the table.

Hello everyone,

With the coming of June the hot weather is definitely upon us. We remain in drought conditions and have to abide by the watering restrictions that are ongoing this time of year. I hope the information that I have passed along in my last two emails has been helpful.

Also, the snakes are back. We found a diamond back in our neighbors back yard over the weekend. Please keep your lawns mowed as these snakes do love to hide amongst the tall grass and are not easy to see.

Cotton-mouths are also out in large numbers, if you live around property that has a pond please be very cautious, especially letting your children near the water. These snakes are venomous and can cause serious problems.

I have some great news. We are having a Florida-Friendly Landscaping event at the clubhouse in September. There will be guest speakers, and plenty of information that can be helpful to all of us. There will be more information on this not only in the LO newsletter but also in the Pipeline as the day of the event approaches.

Some information that I was given by an employee of Pasco County extension services regarding carpet grass. If you dissolve 2 cups of Arm and Hammer powder laundry soap in a gal of water, then put that into a spray bottle. You can use this on your grass where you have problems with carpet grass.

I have included attachments - pages 1-3 for the Architectural request form. I hope that all of you will download this and keep it for any outside work that you may be doing. Please remember any outside work done to your property or your home must have one of these forms completed and submitted for approval.

Much appreciation for the landscaping crews that have been working everyday at getting the shrubs and trees pruned back and the new mulch spread. Regarding "Fireworks" I don't want to be a party poo pooper but when I find bottle rocks on the roof of my house and all over my yard, it makes me stop and think of my house starting on fire. All it takes is one to go directly into one of the vents on our roofs. I believe we should leave the "fireworks" to the professionals and we will all be able to enjoy the Holiday.

How can we do that???

I mentioned it last year after the fourth of July that we need to stop the sale of fireworks on every street corner in Pasco county etc. It's all for our own safety of our families, friends and neighbors. We need help and idea's to get this done in LO.

Incoming news reports two teen agers, 18 and 19 years of age were arrested for vehicle burglaries in Meadow Pointe Community. They have been allegedly connected to the vehicle burglaries committed in April and May. There is a possibility they might have been connected to some of our in Lexington Oaks. It was also reported, the vehicles burglarized were un-locled and ready for the taking. As a reminder, please try to remember to lock your vehicle doors and mainly, remembering to shut your garage doors before turning in at night. Don't make it easy for the bad guys. These vehicle burglaries took place at 4:00 A.M. in the morning.

My wife and I were driving home today and from out of nowhere a red ford lightning came up behind us, passed on our right as we were rounding the rotary and almost ran into a truck of workers and had to cut back in front of us so he would not. After this idiot did this, he proceeded to speed up and was out of sight in a matter of seconds. I have seen so many emails about the speeding in this neighborhood and apparently it does not do any good. If a child would have been riding a bicycle he would have been killed.

June has brought with it the start of the hot summer months. Some advice for anyone working outside, make sure you stay hydrated, take breaks, wear a hat, and use plenty of sun-screen. More and more people tend to work outdoors without following the advice I have just given. It is very easy to get involved in working in your yard and not realize until it's too late. this weather is only going to get worse before it gets better.

The Lexington Oaks of Pasco County Master HOA meeting will be held June 13, 2007 at 7:30 P.M. at the Clubhouse.

As you recall, last week I ran information on reclaimed water, now here is some important information on Potable water.

The restrictions are much different for potable water users and the residents of Lexington Oaks need to be made aware that if they follow the previous information, they will be subject to possible fines from Pasco County (outlined below). I have attached the restrictions for Pasco County for both potable and reclaimed water sources. I would hate to see a resident receive a fine based on information provided from a community leader.

Fines for this are as follows:

VIOLATIONS

FIRST VIOLATION - There shall be no warning; a $30.00 fine, plus $8.00 court costs, will be imposed by issuing a citation. The fine can be paid on or before the Date of Arraignment.

SECOND VIOLATION - $250.00 fine, plus $8.00 court costs.

THIRD VIOLATION - $500.00 fine, plus $8.00 court costs.

Please add my thanks to those speaking out for leaving the alligators alone to swim in our ponds and sun on our banks. I couldn't agree more that they should be sharing this lovely habitat with us humans. We should respect them and they'll respect us.

Speaking of respect, could we ask everyone how they would feel about a ban on fireworks within 50 feet of our homes this year? I'm not talking about the little sparklers. I'm talking about the big, explosive, booming ones that shoot fiery debris high into the air over July 3rd & 4th. I love to watch the fireworks just as much as the next person, but, let's face it, they are illegal and there are dangers brought on by setting them off in such close proximity to our homes and those dangers concern me. We have been so lucky, so far as I know, with no fires in the dry woods, but it only takes one and whose houses will be going up in smoke with it? Already, some people have sustained damage to their screen rooms and bushes. Pets suffer confusion and terror. If people want to set off a lot of fireworks or just shoot off a few token reminders of the July 4th holiday, can't we invite them to do it in the soccer field? Wouldn't it be a little safer there? I don't know... there's still the fire danger. Are there any other ideas?

Dear residents:

School is out and more of our children will be out and about the community- whereas we always here about being cautious of bikes, skateboarders, and children in the street I feel compelled to bring this to the residents attention. My husband and I were driving down Lexington Oaks Blvd this past week, when a grey compact car filled with kids came flying out of Saratoga in front of us. Where this is a problem in itself, what alarmed us was there were 4 kids sitting on the small trunk in bathing suits and towels, when the car flew out onto the Blvd, the 4 fell off, one did not land on her feet. If we had been doing the speed limit, we could have run over this girl.

The teens in the car and the ones that fell off thought this was funny. Needless to say, my husband and I did not. Parents, please talk to your teens. Stunts such as these could leave someone injured. I do hope the girl that fell was not badly injured from her fall. But had this situation been different or darker, the girl could have sustained worse injuries as being hit by a vehicle. Who's fault? These unsuspecting teens or the driver? Just some food for thought. Please be careful on the Blvd.

I want to state that I do agree that this community email ought to be for more positive communications and at times there has been a lot of mud-slinging. I hope that this email reply is not taken that way but as a response to something I feel strong about.

I basically want to state that I don't understand why people instantly call in a trapper when an alligator appears on the side of a pond or in the water. I get so anger when I see one of these trappers pulling in an alligator which is 4-5 feet long just because someone has looked out there backyard and seen a reptile swimming in it's natural state. Let's face it, you live in Florida and alligators come with the territory. Give them a break! I am sorry but only idiots would ever consider walking their pets, or allow their children to play near a pond if they did not know what lied beneath. Does the community have to baby sit all residents when it comes to basic common sense? I for one find it very appealing to look out and see one of these reptiles sunning themselves on the side of our ponds in the community. And you can ask any expert in the world and they will tell you that the alligator is more scared of you, then you are of it. You don't even have to be close to scare the reptile back into the water. Yes, during mating season these creatures can get stressed out and seek out mates by moving closer to yards. But again, you can chase them off easily by making loud nosies. I don't want to see anyone lose a pet or worse, but I really do not believe that we need to rid all of the wildlife in the community. What's next? Shooting all the ugly Turkey vultures that eat carcasses in the road and yards? I think we owe it to these creatures to keep our distance and allow them to live. For anyone who would like to know, I know for a fact that there are trappers who do not spend a lot of time traveling distances to release these alligators they catch, contray to what they tell you. Have you ever followed one after they have trapped it? That would be time and money on their part. Many work with dealers who take them in for meat, research or sales trade. Don't be so naive. Let's leave them alone and be proud that they are there.

As a side note to the alligators that reside in our ponds...let us all be aware that where there is water there will be alligators, snakes and other creatures that either live in or flock to the water. With this in mind please don't let your children wade into the waters for any reason. I would hate to hear that a child in Lexington Oaks was a victim of an attack or worse yet. Also the pond between Remington and Northampton has various depths, especially the end near the golf course as there is a 'shelf' that drops into much deeper water. I only bring this up because I've seen several children wading in the pond...not a very good idea.

Hello everyone,

With memorial day just around the corner, I hope that each of us take a few minutes to reflect over the past years. Our country's service men and women away from their families, and friends who fight for our freedom.

Throughout our lifetime, our armed forces have never let us down. They have given up their time, and all too often their lives for what they believe in. Some of us could certainly take a lesson from these brave men and women, some are barely older than our own children.

I hope that their constant battle stays in the hearts of all those here in Lexington Oaks as well as the rest of the country. We tend to delve into our own personal lives and forget about others and what conflicts they may be having.

Memorial day has different meanings I'm sure for all of us. The end of the school year, the beginning of summer, certainly down here the start of the hurricane season is one everyone's minds. Instead of complaining and tossing blame on others we should be thankful that we are alive, we have our families and friends close by, we have the ability to enjoy each day as it comes.

On this Memorial day let's show our patriotism. Raise your flags proudly. Let's show our support to our troops and rise above our personal opinions and views. Join together as a community, proud to be a part of Lexington Oaks, and proud to be an American.

I would like to wish everyone a very happy, and safe Memorial day weekend.

If you're wondering, what happened to most of this week's commentary I have included those I felt important at this time to include. The rest, I'm sorry to say, I for one as so many other residents are tired of the constant bickering and complaining that appears here on a weekly basis.

This forum is for our community. I understand there are issues that do arise. I also understand that a lot of people do not have any idea as to where to go when they have a complaint or comment. But this constant mud slinging is amazing. We are all adults here, and it is unbelievable to week after week, have someone berate another resident. I for one think it's appalling and feel that perhaps we all need to do some soul searching. Is this what you want your community email to be. Is this what you want your community to turn into. Neighbor against neighbor.

We have a nice community here in Lexington Oaks. It's not perfect, but with who, or what is. We all need to work together to bring our community together, to make this the type of community we are proud to live in. But it takes everyone to make an effort. I am sure I am going to get quite a few hate emails from this. Because that has been the norm. But before you send it out, take a moment to re-read what I've written here. We ask our children to do their best, we don't care what their grades are as long as they gave it their all. Have we as residents given our all? Have we exhausted all avenues before we've decided to make that callous remark?

This would be more for the Northhampton residents that live along the pond across from Remington Village (I've already emailed the residents in Remington). It's been about three years since the last alligator was removed from the large pond behind our house, so needless to say, I was a little bit shocked to see one there this morning. I've already called to report it but just wanted everyone to be aware that this is the beginning of mating season and they are on the move - and may be a little more aggressive.
